MODULE 1.1: THE INDEPENDENT SACRAMENTAL LANDSCAPE
Module Overview This module serves as the foundational theological entry point for clergy incardinating into the Apostolic Old Catholic Mission (AOCM). It is not merely a history lesson; it is an ecclesiological re-orientation. It challenges the student to deconstruct the “binary” view of the Church (Protestant vs. Roman) and enter into the nuanced, ancient, and often misunderstood reality of the Independent Sacramental Tradition (IST).
We will explore the canonical legitimacy of autocephaly, the specific theology of “validity” that underpins our existence, and the crucial distinction between independence (a canonical status) and isolation (a spiritual sickness).
