MODULE 1.2: THE SPECIFIC ETHOS OF THE AOCM
Module Overview Having established the broad ecclesiological context of the Independent Sacramental Tradition in Module 1.1, we now turn to the specific “DNA” of the Apostolic Old Catholic Mission. This module explores what distinguishes the AOCM from other Old Catholic or Independent jurisdictions.
The incardination candidate must grapple with four distinct theological markers that define our ethos:
- Ecclesial Status: Why we are a “Mission” and not a “Church” or “Denomination.”
- Inclusive Catholicity: The theological (not merely sociological) basis for our radical welcome.
- The Open Table: Our Eucharistic theology of hospitality.
- Aesthetics & Symbolism: How our visual identity reflects our doctrine.
